Advent Begins Sunday, December 2
On the weekend of December 2, we begin our time of waiting and anticipation for the nativity of Jesus. We have some fun and meaningful activities planned for the Advent season leading to our Christmas Eve services on December 24.
On December 1, beginning at 1:00 p.m., we will decorate the church for Advent and Christmas. We’ll set up trees, hang wreaths, place nativity scenes, and make the church look festive for the season. Let Paul Amos know you’ll be there by emailing email@example.com.
On December 2, we will celebrate the first Sunday of Advent with a special Caroling Communion, singing the Communion liturgy in caroling melodies as we celebrate the Sacrament together at all weekend services.
Also on December 2, kids are welcome to bring their families and make Advent wreaths with fresh greenery, holly, and candles from 9:00 a.m..- 11:30 a.m. in Wesley Hall.
On December 9, Aldersgate will host a community-wide children’s Christmas sing-a-long from 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. Bring your flashlight and join us around the fire pit on the front lawn. Apple cider and s’mores will be offered after singing.
On December 15, join us for an Evening of Musical Reflections on the Coming Nativity at the Saturday at 5:30 p.m. service.
December 16 is a big day for Aldersgate. It’s Serve with St. Nick Sunday. After one worship service at 10:00 a.m., we will pack meals for food-insecure people around the world with Rise against Hunger. We will make hygiene kits for United Methodist Committee on Relief as our Green Bag project. We will make heart pillows for cardiac patients. We will make cards for the Love Notes and Sunday Suppers ministries. We will prepare the meal for that evening’s Sunday Suppers. And more! We will make a difference in people’s lives. The $10 fee for all activities helps pay for the cost of the Rise Against Hunger meals. Register Here.
The 10:00 a.m. worship service on December 16 will feature the Children’s Musical, “The First Christmas.”
