Hygiene Kits for UMCOR

Wildfires, hurricanes, volcano eruptions, tornadoes, and floods! Can you imagine losing your home? UMW members will be collecting items needed for hygiene kits to take to Annual Conference. These will be distributed by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to disaster relief areas across the United States. Bring in the items listed here and place the boxes outside the Narthex by June 2. UMW members will assemble the kits in early June.

Hygiene Kit Materials

One hand towel (15×25 or 17×27 inches)
No kitchen, cleaning, or microfiber towels
Must be new
Do not wash as the towel will no longer be considered new
Not imprinted with cartoon charters, advertisements, religious, patriotic, military, or camouflage symbols

One comb
Must be sturdy with at least 6 inches of teeth
No pocket combs or picks
Rattail and combs without handles are acceptable but must have at least 6 inches of teeth
Must be new and not washed
Not imprinted with cartoon characters, advertisements, religious, patriotic, military, or camouflage symbols

One toenail or fingernail clipper
No emery boards or metal nail files
Not imprinted with cartoon characters, advertisements, religious, patriotic, military, or camouflage symbols

Bath-size soap (3 oz. bar or larger)
No Ivory, Jergens, or Irish Spring soap
Do not remove from packing

One adult toothbrush
Do not remove from packing
Not imprinted with cartoon charters, advertisements, religious, patriotic, military, or camouflage symbols

10 adhesive bandages (3/4″ by 3″)
Common household bandages acceptable

Contribution
Two dollars is sent with each hygiene kit to cover the cost of toothpaste and postage. A cash donation to cover this cost or additional supply costs would be appreciated. Please put your contribution in your bag or in the basket at Sunday coffee hours.
