Service Sunday Is January 14, 2018
With Guest Preacher Diana Butler Bass
On January 14, three weeks after Christmas Eve, we will have another Church Wide Service Day, with a single worship service at 10:00 a.m. At that service our special guest preacher will be Diana Butler Bass, an award-winning author of ten books, including Grounded: Finding God in the World and the forthcoming Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks.
With Rise Against Hunger, we will pack 40,000 nutritious meals for people in undeveloped countries who don’t receive enough nutrition to lead an active, healthy life. We will do this in two locations: Aldersgate’s Wesley Hall and Stratford Landing Elementary School.
Through our Green Bag Ministry, we will pack snacks and weekend meals for food-insecure students at Washington Mill Elementary School and Stratford Landing Elementary School. Green bags and lists of needed items will be distributed during worship on Christmas Eve and on January 7. Pick one up, bring it back full, and be part of the group that helps package the food into boxes in Founders Hall. Click here to download the lists of needed items.
Sunday Suppers will be cooking and preparing food in the Wesley Hall Kitchen for the homeless of Washington, DC, and then distributing it that evening. This is a great way to learn more about this vital ministry.
To help offset the costs of the day, there is a $10/person fee.
